Start with your actual dates
A calendar month and a 30-day period can end on different dates. Give your intended start and end dates and ask how the period is calculated. If the end date is uncertain, explain that before choosing the agreement.
Estimate a typical week
Add work, shopping and leisure journeys and turn that routine into an estimated monthly distance. Compare the allowance with your needs and ask about excess-mileage charges. Monthly rental does not automatically include unlimited mileage.
Look beyond the monthly payment
Ask for the total, included items, maintenance responsibilities, protection, damage deductible and any deposit. Budget separately for fuel, parking and tolls. If a deposit is required, confirm how it is held, released and potentially retained.
Arrange renewals in advance
